If Cuba is doing worse after losing subsidies from Russia, then isn't it time for the Cuban govt to change? And it's not the half-socialist political system that is their problem. Many countries like this seem to care more about having this legacy political system than they do about taking care of their people. Some could say the U.S. is no different, but we do not hide crime statistics and pretend like we have no problems at all like the Cuban govt does.

i read it costs a lot ( $50 + $35 service fee USD) to get the tourist card at the Miami airport. When I fly out of Canada direct, I get the tourist card free on the flight.

I didn’t take it personal, as I know most travelers mostly only go to the capital Santo Domingo or Punta Cana and stay at resorts where you can’t learn much about the culture. Not saying that was your experience but brother the DR totally embraces our African roots!!! One love

I am a Canadian retired engineer and have travelled throughout Cuba many times and each time I return I leave with a few tears seeing how difficult life can be for ordinary people.
